VOTING has now opened across Warrington for the General Election.

Residents will be voting in Warrington North and Warrington South at 125 polling stations open from 7am to 10pm.

Twenty two of those venues are schools but there will be no distruption to festive Nativity events and important Christmas fair fundraising.

The 125 ballot boxes we be transported to the Count Centre in Birchwood by 11.30pm so the count process can begin.

In Warrington South, Labour’s Faisal Rashid is hoping to retain the seat.

He will be contesting it against Conservative Andy Carter, Liberal Democrat Cllr Ryan Bate, the Brexit Party’s Clare Aspinall and the Social Democratic Party’s Kevin Hickson.

In Warrington North, Charlotte Nichols is Labour’s candidate.

It comes after Helen Jones, who has been Labour MP in the constituency for 22 years, decided to retire.

Wendy Maisey is standing for the Conservatives, David Crowther for the Liberal Democrats, Elizabeth Babade for the Brexit Party and Lyndsay McAteer for the Green Party.
