Drivers can expect delays after a crash on the motorway.
Two lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway of the M61 from junction eight at Chorley, towards junction six at Rivington Services.
All vehicles have now been moved to the hard shoulder and the lanes have reopened.
There is residual congestion in the area so delays are still to be expected.
Motorists are encouraged to leave more time for their journey or find an alternative route.
