A WOMAN has been left badly shaken after a woman was robbed in her home in Greenock.

The victim, 56, was threatened by two thugs in her Burnhead Street property before they stole a large sum of money from her.

The terrifying incident took place just before noon on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Young, of Greenock CID, is appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

DS Young said: "At around 11.45am on Thursday, two males entered an address in Burnhead Street in the Strone area of Greenock.

"The duo entered the house and made threats of violence towards the 56-year-old victim.

"They got hold of a four figure sum of cash and then left the property. The direction they fled in is currently unknown."

Police officers have carried out door-to-door enquiries and continue to scour CCTV for clues.

DS Young added: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the Strone area around that time who may have saw any males acting suspiciously to come forward."

DS Young said both men were both wearing dark clothing and hats.

He added: "The males were seen in Burnhead Street by members of the public approximately an hour before this incident took place.

"Our inquiries are ongoing."

DS Young said the victim was not injured during the incident but has been left very distressed by her ordeal.

He added: "This was a horrendous ordeal for the woman, who was residing in the property herself."
