TV star Paul Sinha from hit quiz show The Chase has answered a call to appear at a Port Glasgow pub.

The quizzer and comedian, nicknamed 'The Sinnerman', will visit The Caledonian Bar in the town centre on February 13.

He will host the first quiz night at the Princes Street pub before going head-to-head with the winning team.

Bar boss David Carroll said: "To be able to launch the quiz night in a small town like this with somebody like that, is amazing.

"I was really pleased when Paul agreed to do it.

"The reaction we've had has been crazy and it's gone down really well with people young and old.

"It should be a really good night."

Greenock man David, who now lives in Port Glasgow, has vast experience running pubs and clubs in Spain, predominantly in the popular party resort of Magaluf where he worked for 15 consecutive years.

He booked lots of famous DJs and celebrity guests to appear at venues in Majorca and has now using his extensive contacts to bring big names to his new bar, starting with 'The Sinnerman'.

The Caledonian Bar opened on December 13 in a former bookmaker's shop.

The businessman, who also runs Carrolls Furniture in Greenock, spent a five-figure sum transforming the rundown premises into a trendy town centre bar and it has gone down a storm.

He said: "It's going really well. "So far, so good."

Mr Carroll says he intends to start a food service in the coming weeks and in total he expects to take on around 15 members of staff.
