TELE readers can get fit for the new year following the festive season with free entry to gyms and swimming pools.
We have teamed up with Inverclyde Leisure to help people across the district achieve their weight-loss or fitness goals in 2020.
We will be printing vouchers to allow you to enjoy exclusive, complimentary access to IL facilities for a workout, a dip in the pool or simply to relax in a sauna or steam room in one of two health suites.
Among the centres taking part in the promotion is the Waterfront Leisure Complex in Greenock where staff and customers are benefiting from the newly-refurbished gym following a major £300,000 transformation.
There is brand new equipment throughout, a large increase in the amount of machinery, including the addition of heated massage beds, and fresh decor, flooring and lighting.
The gym relaunched in time for the new year rush when people typically flock to fitness facilities to start their new year resolutions to get active.
Andrew Hetherington, IL operations manager, said: "It's been extremely busy here at the Waterfront and across all our centres.
"Our sales are so far ahead of budget.
"We've found over the last few years the January rush doesn't start until nearer the end of the month, but this year it started when our centres reopened on January 3. "Gone are the days when people completely stop over Christmas and new year.
"People are more active and health-conscious and are continuing to exercise throughout. "That's why we wanted the refurb in place so customers could hit the ground running in one of the most state-of-the-art gyms in Scotland. "This will be the model we will replicate at our other Fitness Plus+ gyms in Gourock and at Birkmyre Park in Kilmacolm."
Staff say customers are reaping the rewards of the expanded Waterfront facility, particularly at this time of year.
Aileen Cameron, fitness co-ordinator, said: "Due to the increased demand and volume of people coming through the doors at this time of year, the larger gym, greater range of equipment and the modern concept of zoning the gym has helped with the January rush."
The voucher which will be printed in the Tele entitles one person free access to any of the seven Inverclyde Leisure Fitness Plus+ or Fitness for Less gyms or to the swimming pools and health suites at the Waterfront and Port Glasgow centres.
Passes will be valid for seven days and must be presented to staff at reception of participating venues to access the offer.
The centres included in the promotion are: Waterfront Leisure Complex, Greenock Sports Centre, Gourock and Birkmyre Park gyms; Ravenscraig and Boglestone activity centres; and Port Glasgow Swimming Pool.
