GLAMOROUS guests were tickled pink at a local family's sixth Breast Cancer Ball - helping to bring the total raised for charity to almost £90,000.

Greenock Town Hall was transformed into a pink paradise for the glitzy event which attracted 250 guests.

The bash is organised every year by Chris Thomson in memory of his mum Christine, who passed away 10 years ago after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Christine’s giving nature has been the inspiration for all the fundraising efforts of Chris, his family and friends.

This year’s ball raised over £20,000 which brings the total the family have raised for Breast Cancer Care to £88,000.

This year's event marked a decade since Chris's mum passed away.

He said: "It's my mum's 10th anniversary so we tried everything we could to make it the biggest one yet.

"To raise over £20,000 is staggering and we've raised £88,000 in total now.

"Obviously this money won't help my mum but knowing it's helping other people who are going through the same thing is great.

"It's like a gift to my mum and I know she would've wanted that."

Chris and his family including his wife Joanne and uncle Frank Struthers pulled out all the stops to make the event such a success.

Frank was delighted when his friend Jim Neil from Westburn Autos donated an old vintage car to be raffled off on the night.

He said: "I asked him if he could donate something for the raffle.

"He said he would donate a wee Escort that he would MOT and make roadworthy.

"It was absolutely brilliant.

"We gave it a valet to make it look all shiny and I decorated it with balloons on the night.

"The ball was absolutely brilliant, everybody enjoyed it and we now have the Christine Thomson Foundation, which is a registered charity.

"We would like to thank everyone for their incredible support."

Chris, 34, who lives in Castlebank in Port Glasgow, with wife Joanne, 33, and their son three-year-old son Shay, is already planning next year's ball.
