A TWO-CAR collision between a VW taxi and an Audi blocked the B6145 Thornton Road both ways.

A taxi driver was cut out of his black Volkswagen Passat by firefighters and taken to hospital by ambulance.

The other vehicle involved was a white Audi SUV.

The fire service said they were called to the accident at 10.13am.

They said a man was trapped in one of the vehicles and was extricated by firefighters. 

Traffic has returned to normal after earlier disruption caused by tthe accident between Bell Dean Road and Leaventhorpe Lane.

The incident was near Thornton Beckfoot School and the road was closed both ways but the scene has now been cleared and the road re-opened.

Leaventhorpe Lane was also blocked as lorries used that road.

A witness said the collision was at high speed involving the white Audi and the taxi.

It is not know yet if there are any injuries.

First buses said its Service 607 had now resumed its normal route.

Keighley Bus Company tweeted that the 67 service was having to divert via Leaventhorpe Lane in both directions.

They apologised for any inconvenience this may cause.
