PATRIOTIC Greenock school pupils organised a special Burns supper for pensioners from a local care home.
The thoughtful schoolchildren at Ardgowan Primary invited elderly people from Glenfield Care Home to the school - and had a terrific time celebrating the Bard.
Teacher Mellissa Hutcheson told the Tele the P5 pupils visit the care home every week so this time decided to throw residents a special party.
She said: "They kids do a lot of work with the home so they decided to organise a Burns supper for them.
"They worked really hard to prepare shortbread, haggis, neeps and tatties.
"Pupil Calum Lindsay's papa Norrie McGregor came in and provided the music, so everyone was singing Scottish songs.
"John MacLeod, whose daughter Mrs McWhirr teaches in the school, was our piper for the day."
Miss Hutcheson said both the children and the pensioners get so much out of the intergeneration project.
She added: "The kids absolutely love it. They visit every Monday and it's something they really look forward to.
"The residents also love having them up as well."
Miss Hutcheson was keen to thank everyone who supported the event, especially the staff at Glenfield Care Home and the school canteen for providing the food.
