THE first week of the Inverclyde Music Festival was music to the organisers' ears - with thousands of people lending their support.
Festival president Isabel Lind says 2,800 people came through the doors at the Greenock Town Hall and the Greenock Baptist Church to spectate as music maestros, sensational singers and plucky pipers took to the stage to showcase their skills.
Speaking to the Tele, Mrs Lind, said: "Its been absolutely super.
"Almost 3,000 people have supported the festival in the first week, which is fantastic.
"We must never take for granted the support we receive from the Inverclyde community, especially the schools. The backing we receive just doesn't happen in other parts of the country.
"We get a fantastic reception from the schools and we must always thank them for that too."
Isabel said Ben Costello, one of the adjudicators, has been blown away by the festival's talent.
She added: "He has been amazed by the standard and the commitment shown."
Isabel said that Saturday was a particularly exciting day.
She said: "It was extra special as Ben gave his first score of 90 marks to the Belles of Notre Dame, who are five former pupils of Notre Dame High School.
"They were terrific."
Isabel said the piping competition in Greenock Baptist Church and the percussion sessions in the town hall have also proved a hit.
The competition continues today before the grand final concert in Greenock Town Hall on Saturday at 7pm.
Tickets for the concert are £5 and are available at the venue.
