A DESPERATE single mum-of-three says she fears for her children's health after being moved into a 'shameful' property with no heating, hot water or proper flooring.

Yvonne Gallagher says she was relieved when she got the keys to the River Clyde Homes flat in Grosvenor Road last week after being made homeless.

But the 26-year-old, who has children aged five, two and one, said her happiness turned to horror as she discovered that the ground floor flat had no heating or hot water.

She described the property as 'uninhabitable', with bare concrete floors and in a state of general disrepair.

Bosses at River Clyde Homes hit back saying it was the tenant's responsibility to ensure their utility supplies are in place before moving in.

Yvonne said: "I'm livid that they would let a woman with three kids move into this property - it's not even fit for a dog. It's shameful, a disaster.

"It was the only flat they offered me and my three children so I had nowhere else to go.

"River Clyde Homes should not be letting families move into properties like this with no heating or hot water - its unsuitable for families."

Yvonne also fears for the health of her two-year-old son who has asthma and has been in and out of hospital.

She added: "My son has not been well since the day he was born so I can't have him in this home."

Yvonne's mum Lorraine Christie says she is also appalled at the state of the property.

She added: "With my grandson being so poorly, this is not good for him.

"He's a two year-old with chronic breathing problems who has been back and forth to hospital.

"I'm livid about the situation to be honest. My daughter has three kids all under the age of six and has been put into a property with no carpets or anything - it's ridiculous."

Yvonne, who suffers from depression and anxiety, says the situation is causing her even more stress.

A spokesperson for River Clyde Homes said today they are assisting Yvonne.

They added: “Ms Gallagher contacted us to report a problem with her heating and hot water which was not working due to issues with her utilities supplier.

"While it is a tenant’s responsibility to ensure supplies are set up before taking occupancy, River Clyde Homes staff have been assisting with this issue.

"If any repairs are identified that are River Clyde Homes’ responsibility then these will be completed within our published timescales."
