THERE was friendship, food and fun at Lyle Kirk's Messy Church.

Youngsters enjoyed making crafts, games and took to the stage for action songs.

The popular sessions are for primary school-aged children and their parents.

But messy church is open to all ages - the last session welcomed a baby and grandparents.

There is a bible story and lunch is served at the end.

Organisers say it is an opportunity to give parents some time to spend with their children outside the home.

Messy Church has proved popular in different churches across Inverclyde because it provides a relaxed alternative to normal services.

Church youth leader Pam Stewart, said: "I think parents and children feel so relaxed here.

"It's different from a Sunday morning service.

"It's all about learning about fellowship and the love of God in a relaxed atmosphere."

The sessions run once a month and the next one is being held on February 29, between 11am and 1pm.
