THE Beacon will full of the sound of music as Inverclyde Musical Youth Theatre put on the much loved classic.
Around 65 youngsters have been rehearsing for the show since October.
A double cast will perform as the Von Trapp family and Maria.
Paul Alford, director and producer of the show, said: "It's been a bit of a challenge.
"There are no big chorus numbers as such, so it was making sure that roles were found for everybody and keeping them busy.
"The children all love it."
The musical features crowd-pleasers such as the title track, Climb Ev'ry Mountain and Do-Re-Mi.
The musical drama group has been running for five years and has performed a wide variety of shows locally, including Legally Blonde last year.
Paul said: "I would say the Inverclyde audiences prefer more traditional musicals.
"Everyone knows the Sound of Music, you can't change it.
"You have to stay true to the story."
Linda Jackson is choreographing the show, which starts this evening at 7.30pm and runs until Saturday.
Tickets cost between £16-£18 and can be booked by calling 723723 or logging on to www.beaconartscentre.co.uk
