DATES have been announced for the opening of two new restaurants in Greenock town centre.

Bosses from Black Rooster Peri Peri have revealed that they will open in the former Burger King restaurant on West Blackhall Street on Monday March 2.

Black Rooster has shops on Glasgow's Duke Street and in Pollokshaws, Paisley, Possilpark and Coatbridge.

Its Greenock branch will be one of a trio of new restaurants as part of an expansion plan.

In a statement bosses said: "Black Rooster is excited to announce that we are opening another three new locations this year."

Meanwhile, Taco Bell have announced that they are set to open their new drive-thru restaurant in August.

Last year the Tele exclusively announced that the food outlet was opening at the Waterfront Retail Park, with the creation of 40 new jobs

A spokesman for developers HKIP said: "Taco Bell is the world`s largest Mexican-inspired food brand now trading from 40 restaurants in the UK with ambitions to open a further 120 by 2022.

"This will bring a new, fresh restaurant concept to Greenock and will also stimulate commercial interest in the park and increase customer footfall.

"The restaurant will create up to 40 new jobs and will be positioned at the entrance to the park where consent already exists for a larger restaurant."

The Greenock drive-thru is set to be the third Taco Bell in Scotland, with further outlets trading in Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow city centre and in Irvine, Ayrshire.

The new outlets and jobs will deliver a boost to the town centre following the loss of several businesses.
