A YOUNG woman from Port Glasgow hopes to walk down the aisle as a winner after reaching the final of this year's Scottish Wedding Awards.

Creative entrepreneur Jenna Sweeney, a former events organiser, set up a business making bespoke accessories for couples being married and it soon took off.

Four years after being founded, 'By JS' is now a finalist in the 'Accessories of the Year' category at the 'wedding Oscars'.

Jenna, from Glasgow Road, said: "I am really excited to be a finalist at the Scottish Wedding Awards.

"Most of the other finalists at the awards are Glasgow-based so it is great to be flying the flag for this area.

"It has taken a lot of hard work but I can't believe how it has taken off.

"It started as a sideline, making personalised frames for my friends and just went from there."

Jenna is now in great demand from bridal parties searching for perfect personalised accessories like suitcases, champagne flutes, vinyls, postboxes, bridesmaid boxes, Love Island water bottles and much more.

She hopes judges will be persuaded by her full wedding package - creativity, expertise and a business brain.

Her hard work marketing her products, investing in equipment, procuring suppliers and securing the support of backers like the Prince's Trust has all paid off and she has to work round the clock to keep on top of orders.

Her enterprise has become so successful that she is giving up her day job.

She said: "I never dreamed I could actually do this full-time."

Jenna started out in the hospitality business, working her way up to the top as an events organiser with some of the country's most high profile wedding venues.

She said: "I used to see all the effort that brides went to and it kept giving me ideas."

As well as customising wedding accessories, Jenna also caters for dancing groups and other parties.

She has paid tribute to both her mum Andrea and her late dad Billy, who sadly passed away a year ago aged 70.

Jenna said: "I couldn't have done it without them.

"My dad always used to help me with all my supplies and my mum has been a huge support to me as well."

Jenna will find out if she has won at a bash in The Crowne Plaza Glasgow on February 25.
