TWO generations united for a patriotic party which turned in to a real tartan special.

The community lunch was held at St John's Church in Port Glasgow to celebrate all things Scottish.

Pupils from Inverclyde Academy kindly dished up a delicious meal of haggis, neeps and tatties for senior citizens at the 'Tartan Lunch'.

Entertainment was laid on too.

Patriotic pupils from St John's Primary School performed traditional Scottish poems, much to the delight of the audience who gave them a rapturous reception.

The event was organised by Link Housing Association in partnership with Larkfield Housing Association.

Residents were invited to enjoy a hot meal and an afternoon of music and poetry.

Lynne Griffin, who is an area manager at Larkfield HA, said it was great to see the community come together to enjoy an afternoon filled with good food, dancing and poetry.

She said: “We are delighted to be able to host events like this to bring the community together.

“It was great to see the everyone enjoying themselves.

"We’d like to thank the pupils of St John’s Primary for their renditions of traditional Scottish poems, and students from Inverclyde Academy for preparing such a delicious meal.”

The organisers of the event would like to thank everyone who attended and all those who supported the event.
