A TOUCHING memorial appeal has been launched in honour of a mum who lost her life in a tragic road crash in Greenock.

The 38-year-old, named locally as Stacy Creighton, was involved in an accident in Shankland Road on Saturday night.

Her car left the road and the 38-year-old was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital, where she later passed away.

Her friend Yasmin Ahmed has set up an online appeal to raise £1,000 towards the costs of her funeral.

She said: "I am writing this with a heavy heart that Stacy lost her life and grew her wings due to a tragic accident far too soon.

"She was a loving daughter to Bobbie, sister to Gail, Callum and Barry and mother that leaves behind her three girls Rebecca, Amber and Charley.

"Stacy was the light and soul of the party and was loved by so many people and any contributions during this hard time would be appreciated to give Stacy the send off she deserves."

Floral tributes have been placed at the scene of the fatal accident.

One simply read: 'God Bless You'.

Police are investigating the crash and have urged anyone with information to get in touch.

Sergeant Roy McCarney of the Road Policing Unit said: “We are carrying out enquiries and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed this to contact us.

“I would also appeal to any motorists who were driving in the area and who might have dashcam footage which could assist us to get in touch.”

The fundraising target for the appeal is £1,000 and anyone who wants to contribute should visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/yasmin-ahmed-2?
