THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Inverclyde until 9pm tonight.

The area is expected to be hit by winds of upto 50mph while persistant rain could lead to localised flooding.

A spokesperons said: "Heavy rain may lead to some travel disruption."

Forecasters say:

- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

- Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely

A second weather warning will come into place at 6am tomorrow with strong winds, more rain and hail and snow flurries all expected.

The Met Office say: "Strong gusty winds in association with showers may bring some travel disruption.

- Some delays to road, rail and ferry transport are likely. Probably some bus and train service will be affected, with some journeys taking longer while some short term loss of power and other services are possible."

The warning will stay in place until 10pm on Saturday.
