MORE than £5,000 was raised at a poignant get together in memory of a special schoolgirl who touched the lives of so many people.

Family and friends organised a ladies day to remember seven-year-old Rosie Mitchell, who tragically passed away last January.

Rosie, who lived with her parents Donna and Ross, and twin brothers Lucas and Dylan in Kingston Dock in Port Glasgow, sadly lost her third battle with neuroblastoma.

Family friend Amanda Harkins along with Donna's cousins Anne and Susan Brown organised the event in Rosie's honour, which took place in Greenock Town Hall.

Amanda said: "It was a great day.

"Guests were treated to a delicious meal, and entertainment from DJ Kenny, the amazing Earl Blue and The Sessions and George Bowie as well as enjoying raffles for spa days and lots of other goodies and a 50/50 game where the lucky winner won £565."

Hundreds of people flocked to the party to support Rosie's parents' chosen charities.

A total of £5,100 was raised and will be divided between Make a Wish, who fulfilled Rosie's dream to visit Disneyland Paris, Clic Sargent, who helped throughout her illness, and Jak's Den, who provide counselling and friendship to Donna, Ross, Rosie's brothers and cousins.

Rosie's family launched a massive campaign in 2018 in a bid to save their daughter and help others and along with the local community raised an amazing £180,000 for charity Solving Kids Cancer.

Sadly they ran out of time to find the right antibody they needed and Rosie passed away peacefully at home when the disease came back.

Amanda said: "Donna spoke at the event and told everyone what Rosie’s wish to go to Disneyland Paris meant to them all as a family and the lovely memories they have to cherish and how the other two charities helped throughout and continue to do so."
