YOUNGSTERS from a Port Glasgow school are gearing up for the future after an inspiring 'World of Work' week.

Newark Primary invited guests from all different organisations to talk to pupils and encourage them to think about future occupations.

The hugely enjoyable event brought together everyone from PC John Jamieson, local firefighters and vet practice nurses to encourage the early development of aspirations and goals for the pupils.

Staff at Newark also encouraged pupils to apply for mock jobs through their 'vacancy board'.

Teachers are keen to equip the kids with the skills required to cope with change as children move through each primary.

As a result of the school's work with local partners, children have enjoyed work experience opportunities.

Children have helped out at the Inverclyde Foodbank and the school are currently in talks with local Credit Unions to set up shifts for some of the younger pupils.

The school's aim is to ensure all Newark Primary pupils feel inspired about the future.

Teachers say the event was enjoyed by staff, pupils and parters alike.
