DANGEROUS sea conditions have prompted the authorities to close the beach.
Brighton and Hove beaches will be closed for the remainder of the day as strong winds batter the south coast.
People have been warned to keep away due to the "dangerous sea conditions".
The Met Office is expecting wind gusts of up to 47 miles per hour.
This comes as thousands head to Madeira Drive to take part in the Brighton Half Marathon.
A spokesman for the city's seafront team said: "We need to close Brighton & Hove beaches today due to dangerous sea conditions from the high spring tide and weather.
"We are on hand but if you're down for today's half marathon, please keep away from the beach."
