WELL read youngsters celebrated World Book Day by sharing it with a messy church session at Lyle Kirk.

Some children dressed up as their favourite character while others brought along the books they like best.

Pam Stewart, who runs the messy church, said the children had great fun with the book theme idea.

She said: "We gave clues for books and they had to guess the titles.

"They sang a couple of songs and made wooden spoon puppets, bookmarks, snakes, magic mirrors and world book day cards.

"We also had lots of crosswords, mazes, a spot the difference game and quizzes which were all book-related."

The session ended with the launch of a new lending library.

Pam said: "We have lots of new books for adults and children, all with God's teachings in them - be it through storytelling or study guides."

The group enjoyed lunch together after all the action-packed fun.

The next messy church at Lyle Kirk will take place on March 18 in the Union Street building from 11am until 1pm, when the group will celebrate Easter.
