A PENSIONER was attacked by a masked man during a broad daylight robbery bid in Greenock east end.
Greenock CID are appealing for witnesses after the 75-year-old woman was assaulted on Fairrie Street yesterday morning.
The victim was walking back from the shops to her home at around 10am when she was approached from behind by a man who attempted to obtain money from her.
The thug was unsuccessful in the robbery attempt and then ran off from Fairrie Street towards Sinclair Street.
The woman did not sustain any injuries but detectives say she was left shocked and startled by the incident.
The suspect was wearing a dark beanie hat, a dark scarf covering his face and a light grey jacket.
Police are appealing for witnesses, including a man who shouted at the suspect.
