A TEENAGE football hooligan who ran onto the pitch at Cappielow and aggressively tried to incite Morton fans has been barred from all matches.

The 17-year-old lout Falkirk fan — who can't be identified for legal reasons — has a previous conviction for causing disorder at a game involving his club.

He has now been whacked with a football banning order prohibiting him from attending any match in the UK for 18 months.

The yob is also not allowed to go into any non-domestic premises where live football is being shown on TV.

His case has finally been dealt with more than a year after he entered the field of play at Cappielow and approached rival fans last March.

The youth shouted, swore and gesticulated in an aggressive manner towards Morton supporters after his team had scored an equalising goal in the 1-1 Scottish Championship draw.

He was one of numerous Falkirk who fans who entered the field of play illegally, pictured, to goad Morton supporters when their side scored an equaliser during the first half.

There had been bad blood between the two sets of supporters following Ray McKinnon's controversial Cappielow walkout to join Falkirk, who were subsequently relegated at the of the season.

The youth arrested during the grudge match had consistently maintained a plea of not guilty to the charge against him as the protracted case made its way through the court process.

During this time — which included his trial being postponed last December — he was able to continue following his club at away games around Scotland.

But that has been brought to a halt by Sheriff Michael Higgins, who told him: "This is a serious matter.

"You have previous convictions for offences of public disorders, and one of them in particular is analogous to this one."

The youth's head dropped in the dock and he stared at the floor as the length of the banning order was made plain to him.

He has also been placed on a night-time electronic tagging curfew, confining him to his home between 7pm and 7am each day for four months.
