A BIG-HEARTED curry house in Port Glasgow is saying thank-you to NHS workers and emergency services staff in this time of crisis by providing them with free food.

Curry Lounge in Princes Street is offering key workers free mixed pakora plus a 10 per cent discount on their takeaways.

Owner Sal Mohammed, along with his dad Ifty and the team, say they have been overwhelmed by the dedication of NHS staff and emergency services as coronavirus tightens its grip on our communities.

Sal said: "We've seen the fantastic work that nurses, policemen and medical professionals are doing at this time and wanted to say thank-you.

"We just wanted to give something away for free, something complimentary from us, to pay tribute to the great job they're doing.

"We've had really good uptake on it already.

"We get a lot of nurses coming in at lunchtime from the health centre round the corner.

"It's great to be able to help out and to give something back."

Curry Lounge has only been open since May 2019 but has already attracted fans from all over Scotland with families making their way to the premises from as far afield as Stirling.

The Curry Lounge restaurant is currently closed to government regulations regarding coronavirus but continues to provide a takeaway and home delivery service.

Despite only being open a short time, the Mohammed family feel that their business is already an important part of the Port.

Sal added: "We're always trying our best for our community."
