BANGOR residents are being reminded to refrain from controlled burns during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A fire crew from the city attended a fire in the open on Penchwintan Road on Sunday, March 29.

Despite North Wales Fire and Rescue urging people in North Wales to sit out the final days of the 'burning season' - which runs until March 31 - to an incident involving a resident burning a quantity of rubbish.

A spokesperson for fire said: "We were called at 3.32pm to a resident undertaking a controlled burn.

We would urge residents, farmers and landowners to avoid carrying out controlled burning this year to help us reduce demand and stay safe."
