THE Tele's paperboys and girls are back in action as we bring Inverclyde's 163-year-old newspaper to our readers' doors during lockdown.

Our agents took the decision to suspend a large area of our service amid the coronavirus outbreak, although some of our determined youngsters kept their runs going in a bid to keep customers stuck at home up to date with all that's going on across Inverclyde.

Now we are ramping operations back up in a bid to make sure nobody goes without their Greenock Telegraph.

Michael McCauley, Ross Darroch, Christopher Kelly and Kyle Barclay, all pictured, are back on their rounds, employing safe social distancing and a range of measure to keep both them and their customers safe.

David Boyle, head of circulation, says the time was right to respond to our plea from readers.
He added: "We are being inundated with calls from our readers right across Inverclyde who are desperate to get their Tele delivered again.

"Equally, we have more and more of our delivery agents eager to get back out delivering the news so that everyone can stay fully informed about what's happening in their community - and the best way to do this is to read the Telegraph."

We will be taking our Teles straight to our paperboys and papergirls and hopefully will soon be able to restore - and add - to the delivery network that supplies all of our loyal customers.
Greenock Telegraph editor Brian Hossack said: "Some of our older readers are missing getting their papers and we are keen to do all we can to help.
“We are happy to be able to get things moving again.
"If any of our other junior agents want to come back on board and restart their run, just get in touch with us and we will get the papers brought straight to their house."

Mr Hossack added: "Under lockdown, our delivery service has never been more important.
"It means people can stay at home but still receive all their local news.
"We hope to be able to get our full delivery operation back up and running as soon as possible and these four hard-working lads are doing a fantastic job of keeping their customers happy.
"All credit to them, and hopefully the rest of the paperboys and papergirls who cover Inverclyde for us will be able to rejoin them soon."
