A HEAVY police presence descended on a Greenock street after reports of a disturbance between armed men.
A group of males were arguing with another man in lower Ann Street at around 10pm on Thursday.
The lone man fled uninjured in a car and the three others disappeared into a common close.
Six police vehicles went to the scene.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon said: "Police received a number of calls regarding a disturbance between three males possibly in possession of weapons arguing with a single male.
"The large police presence was to conduct an area search and canvas door to door and check CCTV however police have been unable to trace anyone at this time.
"Inquiries are continuing."
Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting incident 2831 of May 14.
