THE introduction of a mobile coronavirus testing unit in Inverclyde run by the Army has been welcomed by the council's SNP group leader.

Chris McEleny had called for more community testing after it emerged that key workers were having to travel to Glasgow Airport for the procedure.

He said: "Establishing a mobile testing unit in our community is very welcome and I am glad that calls for this to happen have been listened to.

"I hope everyone who is eligible to take the test does so in order that we can then trace those people they've been in contact with if they test positive and put them in isolation to stop the spread of this virus in Inverclyde."
