DETECTIVES are still hunting the gunman responsible for a drive-by shooting in Greenock.

A renewed appeal for information has been issued in the wake of last Tuesday's gunfire incident on Brachelston Street.

A 37-year-old man was shot at from a white Hyundai Tucson at around 6pm.

The car sped off in the direction of the Yorston off-sales and Orangefield area and was found abandoned and ablaze in a lane off Mallard Crescent, near Coves Reservoir, at 3.45am last Wednesday.

Detective Inspector Cameron Miller, who is leading the investigation, said: "It has now been over a week since this took place and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information.

"We believe this to be a targeted attack and would like to emphasise that there is no threat to the wider community.

"I would like to thank those who have already came forward and would encourage others to do so in order to help trace those responsible."
