A WOMAN has been rushed to hospital following a serious assault at a flat in Greenock.
The 25-year-old was attacked by a weapon wielding thug this afternoon.
The victim was rushed to IRH following the incident in Pine Street.
Police are appealing for information following the incident, which happened at around 4.30pm.
Detective Constable Tony Hainey of Greenock CID said: “The female was seriously assaulted and a weapon was used.”
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with police and an ambulance in attendance.
The victim is being treated for her injuries at Inverclyde Royal.
Police officers say they are following a positive line of inquiry.
