GRASSROOTS projects across Inverclyde have benefited from a share of a £4,000 funding pot.

Inverclyde Community Fund provided eight groups with a much-needed cash boost of between £200 and £500 each.

Inverclyde Recovery Cafe, Inverclyde Shed, Clyde Fisherman's Trust, Wellington Bowling Club, I-Fit, St Mary's Church Community Services, Greenock Morton Community Trust and Proud2Care all received money this time around.

The scheme, which was first created by CVS Inverclyde in 2012, relaunched in March 2020 to support Covid-19 related projects and local activities.

Inverclyde Recovery Cafe will use the money to buy a laptop, Wellington BC will use it to build a mobile ramp and Proud2Care will use the funding to buy yoga equipment.

Eleanor Robertson, chair of Inverclyde Community Fund, said: "Alongside my fellow trustees, we are delighted to make the first awards since the relaunch of the fund.

"All of these projects will provide much-needed support to those that need it the most, and we wish all of the groups success.

"I would again invite local organisations to consider applying to the fund to see if we can support their aims and further help the third sector across Inverclyde."

Inverclyde Community Fund is a charitable trust which makes small grants to voluntary organisations across the district and distributes funds through several different grant programmes.

The fund recently received donations of £2,000 from Inverclyde Renewables LLP and the Corra Foundation.
