COASTGUARD crews say they responded to reports of two low-flying aircraft over Gourock.
The team received calls from members of the public at 12.32pm on Thursday.
Officers in vehicles with sirens lit were seen driving through Greenock to investigate.
The coastguard says it's believed the planes were military and travelling on a flight path out over Rothesay.
