LADIES across Inverclyde are being urged to get all dressed for an evening at home - as the hospice switches one of the biggest events in its calendar.

With their famous 'Ladies Day' at The Chartroom in Inverkip postponed this year, the charity have instead arranged for a virtual night of entertainment.

Hosted by entertainer Edward Reid, a favourite at Ardgowan events over the years, the 'Ladies Lockdown Night In' on June 13 is expected to be a big hit.

Laura Queen, fundraising assistant, said: "We are all so pleased that Edward has pulled this together for us, he’s such a fabulous entertainer.

"We would normally have our sell out Ladies Day that weekend, which we have had to postpone to a later date.

"This ‘Ladies Lockdown Night In’ gives everyone the opportunity to get dressed up for a virtual get-together, enjoy some great entertainment, have a good laugh and hopefully raise some funds for Ardgowan Hospice while doing so."

Ladies are encouraged to get glammed up and tune into a Facebook Live broadcast at 8pm where there will be performances from Edward, auction lots and a prize for the best dressed guest on the evening.

The star of the show, Edward, told the Tele: "I love coming down to Inverclyde to perform.

"I’ve made so many friends there since the hospice first booked me years ago, so I’m so chuffed they have asked me to get involved with this night.

"I will miss seeing the ladies in the flesh but can’t wait to interact with them with their comments on the livestream.

"I don’t know if it’s me that brings out the crazy and fun side of the girls or they are always like that - I’m thinking the latter!

"They usually storm the stage at The Chartroom - I will miss that bit of the virtual ladies night.

"I think the women’s commitment to the hospice is beautiful.

"I hope they get 'all done up' for themselves and treat it as a proper night out.

"I know I’ll be putting the fake tan on on the Thursday night and looking out my sparkliest jacket!"

The hospice are asking for a suggested donation of £10 for joining in, which can be donated through their Facebook or text link.
