INVERCLYDE Council says it has no plans to follow other local authorities and furlough staff.
It follows moves by other cash-strapped local authorities hoping to join the job retention scheme set up by the UK Government.
Public sector union Unison says this shows that the Scottish Governement must act to address shortfalls in funding.
Inverclyde Council, who have joined Cosla in calling for ministers to pass on Covid-19 emergency funding to local authorities, has confirmed it will not follow others like Fife, Edinburgh City and West Dunbartonshire who have furloughed employees.
A spokesman confirmed they have not applied and have no intention of doing so.
