TODAY'S return of blue bin uplifts has been welcomed by the council's SNP group leader.
Chris McEleny — who had been calling for the reinstatement of the service — noted that other councils had never withdrawn the collections during lockdown.
Inverclyde suspended them on March 30, citing problems with a private contractor appointed by the council.
Councillor McEleny said: "Before the current public health crisis due to the coronavirus there was an increasing acceptance that we were in a global climate emergency.
"Many people have told me how much they've disliked having to send recyclable waste to landfill."
