A GROUP of glamorous ladies managed to raise over £1,000 for Ardgowan Hospice - without leaving their living rooms.

Over 60 Inverclyde women were truly 'all dressed up with nowhere to go' on Friday evening - because they were taking part in a 'virtual ladies night'.

Last weekend should have been the hospice's famous 'Ladies Day' at The Chartroom, however with it being postponed due to COVID-19 they found a way to still have fun and raise vital funds.

The group were treated to a performance from their host, Britain's Got Talent star and radio DJ Edward Reid, as well as a raffle and auction and together they managed to raise £1,135.

The star of the show, Edward, told the Tele: "I’ve made so many friends in Inverclyde since the hospice first booked me years ago.

"I think the women’s commitment to the hospice is beautiful."

As well as performances from the sparkly suited and booted Edward, there were a number of glittering auction lots up for grabs, sending the generous ladies into a bidding frenzy.

Artist Kevin Hunter donated a print which sold for £105, a Clarins gift set went for £240, a signed Scotland football top netted £150 and an Amazon voucher yielded £110.

Those unlucky in the auction were encouraged to pay £10 to enter the raffle, which also had a number of prizes that had been kindly donated.

Laura Queen, hospice fundraising assistant, said: "On behalf of everyone at Ardgowan Hospice, I would like to thank all those who took part in our first ever Ladies Lockdown, and of course to Edward for being such a fabulous host, as always.

"These donations will continue to support our patients and families, who as well as having life-limiting illnesses to cope with, have the added concern of the COVID-19 pandemic to contend with too.

"The kindness and generosity of the people of Inverclyde is second to none, and we can’t thank you all enough."

The hospice are also keen to thank Ardgowan Health & Beauty Clinic, Tonino’s, Amazon Gourock, South Street Spar, Original Artists, Kevin Hunter and Greg Taylor for donating raffle and auction lots.
