THE future of staff at Travis Perkins in Greenock is up in the air after the firm announced it plans to close 165 branches. The builders' merchant says around 2,500 employees are expected to lose their jobs.
The company have yet to announce if the Greenock branch, based on Port Glasgow Road, will be a casualty.
A spokesperson at Travis Perkins said: "The group is taking regrettable but necessary actions to preserve the future competitiveness of the business.
"Regrettably, these changes are likely to result in a number of job losses."
