STAFF at Greenock's new The Range store have been praised by police for their helping in catching a suspected drunk-driver.
A 25-year-old man who appeared to be intoxicated turned up at the premises at 9.30am on Sunday to be told that the shop was still closed.
It is alleged that he tried to drive away in a car and then ran off after being challenged by staff members.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon, of Greenock police, said: "After a short while the male was traced, again this was assisted by staff.
"Police wish to thank staff of their quick thinking and diligence in this matter."
The arrested man has been reported to the fiscal.
