LOCAL health bosses say they expect a hike in alcohol referrals post-lockdown.
Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership say their staff are 'working hard supporting our current caseload of people who have alcohol problems'.
They added: “We have had to make changes in the way staff work to reflect the current COVID-19 situation.
"We now see the people who use our service in a variety of settings, including in their homes, but we have also introduced new techniques such as telephone follow-ups and signposting to a range of online recovery resources and local recovery communities.
“We are assessing new cases as they come to us and we are still offering a full range of treatments.
"We anticipate an increase in referral rates post lockdown as we are aware of the increase in alcohol sales nationally."
