AN award-winning local business has decided not to re-open its cafe following the coronavirus shutdown.

Three Sisters Bake - run by siblings Gillian, Nichola and Linsey Reith - is closing its premises at Quarrier's Village.

It is one of two premises they are shutting down.

The owners says it's been a very hard decision but one that was necessary for the future of the overall business, which has branched out into other successful areas over the years.

They paid tribute to their loyal customers as they announced the move.

In a statement they said: "As the lockdown measures that closed the hospitality industry are eased, circumstances have reshaped our family business.

"Unfortunately, as we refocus on these parts of our business, we’ve taken the difficult decision not to reopen our cafes at Quarrier's Village and Killearn Village Hall.

"This has been a horribly hard decision but is the best option available to us at this time as we pivot the business in the aftermath of the pandemic.

"We would like to thank all our loyal customers over the years at both cafes along with our amazing teams who have worked with us along the way, helping to shape our business.

"It means more than you could possibly know."

The trio will now concentrate on their wedding business as well as off-site catering and cakes.

They also plan to continue to run their takeaway shop Cake Bar in Glasgow's west end, and an online shop.

Three Sisters Bake established their first café in Quarrier's Village in 2011.

It proved to be a huge success, paving the way for the business to expand.

The sisters launched a cookbook four years ago and Nichola was chosen to front BBC baking show Flour Power.
