A MAN was rushed to hospital after being seriously assaulted outside his home in an early morning attack.
The 35-year-old was set upon by three or four thugs who turned up at Fife Road in Greenock at 1am and started causing damage to his house.
Detective Sergeant Stuart Young of Greenock CID said: “All of the attackers were wearing dark clothing.
“They attended at the address and caused damage to his house and when the man challenged them, he was assaulted.
“The injured male was treated in hospital and later released.
“There appears to have been a weapon used.
“Police and the ambulance service attended.”
Police have been carrying out door to door inquiries and examining CCTV.
This will continue today.
