COUNCIL bosses say they hope to have almost all local playparks opened again by the end of this week.

The Tele reported yesterday on the 12 playparks that are already back in action.

There are around 50 play areas in total across Inverclyde.

Two will not be re-opening — the play area at the walled garden in Gourock will be closed because it is classed as an enclosed space.

Another at Quarrier Street in the east end of Greenock will stay shut because of nearby construction work.

A council spokesman said: "We will be putting up signs asking people to make sure that children use hand sanitiser before and after they play on the equipment.

"People should also still follow the two-metre social distancing guidelines.”
