BARRHEAD Travel in Port Glasgow will reopen in the 'next few weeks'.

Fears had surfaced about the branch's future are the firm announced plans to make staff redundant.

Bosses at the company have now confirmed the Inverclyde store is safe - and will be open to welcome customers soon.

The shop in the Port Retail Park opened two years ago at a cost of £2.5m after the company closed its premises in Greenock's Oak Mall.

A spokesperson for the travel company said: "We will be reopening the local branch soon, hopefully by the end of the month or shortly afterwards.

"We look forward to welcoming customers again and currently can be contacted for virtual bookings and enquiries through our website."
