The grandparents of a schoolboy who died after falling down a hole at a building site have paid tribute to their grandson.

Shea Ryan, 10, tragically passed away after being raced to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital on Thursday evening.

He had sustained serious injuries at a Drumchapel building site near Glenkirk Drive.

His grandparents were among those who laid tributes at the site of the tragedy on Friday, BBC Scotland reports.

His grandmother Ms Meechan told BBC Scotland: "We think our wee granddaughter was there when he fell.

"We've just came up to put these flowers down and then we'll get him a big grandson flower."

She added: "He was a good boy. Wild, but good."

Shea's grandfather was in shock when he was told about what happened, he said: "I  thought I was hearing things".

Margaret Coyle, headteacher at Camstradden Primary School which the boy attended, said: “We are devastated to hear the tragic news and our thoughts and prayers are with Shea’s family and friends.

“In the short period of time he’s been with us at the school Shea has made many friends with school staff and the children.

“Everyone will be shocked to learn of his death and we will do all that we can to offer support to the family and wider community in Drumchapel.”
