Thousands have been raised to support the family of a boy who died after a tragic accident at a Drumchapel building site.

The fundraising page reads: "We have decided to start a go fund me page for our wee star in the sky Shea Ryan to help his family in this unbelievable heartbreaking time.

"Shea had his whole life ahead of him. He is a wee boy who is gonna be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him rest easy angel."

Friends and family paid tribute to the 10-year-old by laying down flowers near the Scottish Water site.

One local told our sister title the Glasgow Times: "It's heartbreaking for the whole community. Will kill the whole place. It's a sin. It's heartbreaking."

Another said: "It's so sad. What can you say. It's a wee boy at 10".

Margaret Coyle, headteacher at Camstradden Primary School which the boy attended, said: “We are devastated to hear the tragic news and our thoughts and prayers are with Shea’s family and friends.

“In the short period of time he’s been with us at the school Shea has made many friends with school staff and the children.

“Everyone will be shocked to learn of his death and we will do all that we can to offer support to the family and wider community in Drumchapel.”
