MEMBERS of Gourock Golf Club have their focus on planning celebrations for its 125th birthday.

Committee members and staff at Cowal View are making preparations for marking the special occasion in 2021.

Plans are underway to create a calendar with photographs that show the spectacular course in all its glory throughout the years and club manager, Allan Warwick, is inviting anyone to contribute.

He said: "We've never made a calendar before, so we thought it would be a perfect way to mark the occasion.

"We hope to pull together views of the course over the years and through all seasons.

"We'd like to see photos of the clubhouse, various holes on the course or associated views.

"Anyone is welcome to send in their photographs, members or not."

The club are hoping that walkers who used the course for their daily exercise during the Covid-19 restrictions may also have photographs to share.

The committee will be accepting photos up until October 24 before they judge the successful snaps.

Those whose are successful in securing a spot in the calendar will be rewarded with an A3 print of their photograph.

Allan said: "We're hoping to be able to organise the sale of the calendars at fetes and Christmas markets that will be held during the year.

"They could make a great Christmas present for people either living in the area, past members or even those who have moved away but would like a reminder of Gourock.

"We're looking forward to seeing photographs and hope we get a wide range of entries."

As well as the calendar, the club's committee members are currently planning a series of events to mark the milestone, with the landmark date falling on April 18.

They are also hoping to add a permanent feature to the course.

*A maximum of four photographs per person can be entered into the competition and they need to be an original digital file at least two megabytes in size.
