A BLADE-wielding thug is being hunted by detectives following a vicious early hours attack on a young man in Kilmacolm.
The 24-year-old victim was rushed to hospital after sustaining wounds to his shoulder and hands in the 3.30am incident yesterday morning.
He was staying at his partner's home on the village's Corlic Way when the attacker — described as wearing dark clothing and possibly masked — turned up at the front door.
Detective Inspector David Wagstaff, of Greenock CID, told the Telegraph: "He attacked the male within the property with a bladed weapon to his shoulder and hands.
"The suspect fled initially on foot, with his direction of travel unknown.
"The casualty received medical treatment and has been transferred to a hospital in Glasgow for ongoing assessment and treatment of his hand injuries."
DI Wagstaff added: "The suspect is described as wearing dark-coloured clothing and he possibly had a face covering.
"It was a targeted attack, the suspect went there looking for this man."
Police are appealing for information regarding the incident as a matter of urgency, and details should be passed on via the 101 number or anonymously through the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
