A PORT Glasgow man has been charged with brandishing a knife and assaulting his ex-partner by allegedly seizing her by the throat.

Keir Duffy, 23, is also accused of attacking another man by repeatedly striking him on the head and body and biting him multiple times to injury.

Prosecutors say Duffy behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, conducted himself aggressively, repeatedly shouted and swore and brandished a knife or similar instrument.

He is said to have struck himself on the body with the blade whilst issuing insults.

The Crown says the alleged offences took place within a property on West Woodside Avenue in the Port last Saturday.

Duffy pleaded not guilty to the allegations through lawyer Aidan Gallagher during a custody hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court.

He was allowed bail to an address in Moodiesburn, North Lanarkshire, on condition he stays away from his ex-partner and her home.

The case is due to call again on September 15, ahead of a trial scheduled for October 14.
