A MAN who was tasered outside Southampton railway station has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

A 19-year-old woman was assaulted just before 3pm yesterday in Morris Road, Southampton.

Officers received a concern for welfare call to Blechynden Terrace outside the Southampton Central Station at 2.43pm on Saturday.

A 22-year-old man was tasered by police before he was detained by officers and taken to hospital.

He has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

He remains in custody at this time.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "A 22 year old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm following an assault on a 19 year old woman in Morris Road, Southampton.

"He remains in custody at this time. We can confirm the man was tasered by police officers yesterday afternoon in the vicinity of Southampton Central Train Station."
