THE wait will finally be over today for pupils in Inverclyde as they receive their results after an extraordinary school year.
For the first time ever exams had to be abandoned because of the coronavirus shutdown.
Instead pupils have been awarded marks based on their coursework and other criteria set down by the exam body SQA.
Education convenor Councillor Jim Clocherty said: "I would like to wish all the pupils good luck in what has been a difficult time for everyone.
"I'd also like to thank the schools and our teachers for all their hard work.
"I know what an anxious time it is for all the pupils and their parents as well.
"There will be many who will get the results they need but there will also be others who are disappointed.
"I would say to those who maybe don't have the results they hoped for, there are other avenues and opportunities."
